Computer Architecture intro

 Computer Architecture

A set of guidelines and procedures that specify how computers should operate, be managed, and be put into practice might be referred to as computer architecture. To be accurate, it is just the set of rules that a system follows to function.

Sub-divisions

The three main categories that makeup computer architecture are as follows:

Every time a processor receives an instruction, its job is to read it and carry it out. This is known as instruction set architecture, or ISA. It acts on memory address mode in addition to allocating memory to instructions (Direct Addressing mode or Indirect Addressing mode).

The microarchitecture outlines how a certain processor will handle and carry out ISA instructions.

System design comprises all of the system's hardware components, including virtualization and multiprocessing.

Computer architecture's function

Computer architecture's primary responsibility is to strike a balance between a computer system's performance, efficiency, cost, and reliability.

As an illustration, the Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) serves as a link between the software and hardware of computers. It functions as a machine as seen by a programmer.

Users understand high-level language, while computers can only grasp binary language (0, 1) (i.e., if else, while, conditions, etc). Therefore, Instruction Set Architecture plays a significant part in this communication between user and machine by translating high-level language to binary language.

Structure

Let's look at the computer architecture sample structure that is provided below.

Typically, computer architecture includes the following components:

Processor

Memory

Peripherals

The system bus, which is made up of the address bus, data bus, and control bus, is used to connect all of the aforementioned components.

The architecture of the computer is shown in the diagram below.
